About the workshop
This workshop, presented and developed by experienced attorneys, will cover the compulsory process as it affects mental health professionals including; subpoenas, requests for records, depositions and trial testimony, also defending against investigations by the Department of Health and insurance companies.

About the presenter
Robert E. Smith, Attorney at Law, is of counsel with the Redmond, WA law firm of Pacific Northwest Law Group. He holds two degrees from the University of Washington, an undergraduate degree in psychology and a graduate law degree.
Mr Smith's clients, including both individual practitioners and facilities, provide behavioral health care services. In addition to providing transactional business services, Mr. Smith deals daily with privacy and security issues. During the past few years, attorneys have begun using him as a consultant as to matters involving compulsory process and other methods of information access.
Mr. Smith's practice also includes general business law, estate administration and estate planning.
Elizabeth A Cooper, Attorney at Law is a partner and has been in practice with Lybeck and Murphy since 1996. Ms. Cooper focuses her active civil litigation practice on the defense of healthcare providers. She also represents clients in products liability, estate and guardianship litigation, as well as in employment and general personal injury matters.
Ms. Cooper graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Political Science in 1990. She obtained her JD from Seattle University School of Law in 1995. She is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of Oregon and Alaska. She is a member of the Washington, Oregon and Alaska State Bar Association: the King County Bar Association; and Washington Women Lawyers.
