About the workshop
What happens to gifted children when they grow up? Are you aware that there are personality factors that accompany giftedness, and these personality factors can have surprising implications for clinical practice?
Giftedness can be easy to miss because the associated personality characteristics are not commonly known by clinicians. But, their effect on treatment can be strongly positive or negative. Gifted people may be misdiagnosed as having learning disabilities, mood disorders, or Axis II disorders, including narcissism. They may also have difficulties with addictions. If you are having challenges with clients not improving as expected, unidentified giftedness may be one factor to consider.
In this three and a half hour training, you will learn to:
Identify personality and sensory characteristics associated with giftedness.
Appreciate the important role intelligence has in resilience and healing from trauma.
Incorporate an understanding of giftedness into your clinical practice.
