Law and Ethics: Working with Children and Families

Joan Ward, MSW, LICSW

About the workshop

Providing services to children and families can be a very rewarding area of professional practice, but it is also an area involving complex laws, ethical dilemmas, and confusion regarding practice standards.  This workshop focuses on a review of applicable laws, common ethical questions, emerging trends, practice standards, and legal risks (and how to avoid them).  There is an emphasis on issues related to therapy, child custody and adoption.  Topics include confidentiality, professional conduct, standards of practice and care; and professional roles.
